Daniel R. Synkowski, M.D., FAAD

After graduating from Yale Medical School and completing a medical

internship at SUNY Buffalo, Dr. Synkowski completed a dermatology residency at

the University of Pittsburgh.  He then joined the junior faculty at

Johns Hopkins and received a Young Investigator Award to characterize

the inflammatory cell infiltrate in cutaneous lupus erythematosus lesions.

In 1984 Dr. Synkowski began a solo dermatology practice in Baltimore and

remained part time faculty at Hopkins.  In 1997 he became Chief of

Dermatology at the West Palm Beach VA Hospital.  Coming to California in

2000 to work with the Sharp Rees Stealy Medical Group, he also joined

the volunteer faculty at UCSD. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor.

Recently he decreased his hours with Sharp to provide more time to work with the residents and students at UCSD which he enjoys immensely.  He is primarily interested

in medical dermatology.

Non-medical activities include swimming, weight training and playing the accordion.
