Wynnis Tom, MD

Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine (Dermatology)


Wynnis Tom, MD, is Assistant Clinical Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Medicine (Dermatology) at the University of California, San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital, San Diego. After completing her undergraduate education at Stanford University, she attended medical school at the University of California, San Diego.  Dr. Tom then completed her training in dermatology at Saint Louis University.  She returned to the San Diego area to pursue a fellowship in pediatric dermatology. 

 

A special area of interest for Dr. Tom is chronic inflammatory skin conditions and managing patients who have more difficult disease that requires systemic medicines. She is a recipient of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology Pilot Project Award and the Dermatology Foundation Patient-Directed Investigation Grant to further study these areas.

Research Interests

Dr. Tom’s research focuses on chronic inflammatory skin conditions, in particular atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. She has an interest in the use of systemic medications in cases of severe skin disease.
