Welcome to the Division of Epithelial Biology
Epithelial cells line the external and internal surfaces of our body. They play a vital role in protection against external and internal threats. Greater than 90% of all cancers are derived from an an epithelial orgin.
The Division of Epithelial Biology brings together faculty and students with a shared interest in studying epithelial tissues such as skin, intestine, and lung. Current areas of investigation include understanding tissue development, host-microbe interactions, and progression to disease.
The major themes of the Division include weekly journal clubs and a seminar series. The purpose of the Division is to promote interactions and synergism between faculty and students studing epithelia.
