Educational Curriculum
Wednesday mornings are dedicated to academic instruction. The resident didactic educational schedule includes:
- Faculty lectures
- Book review
- Journal club (general dermatology, pediatric dermatology, and dermatologic surgery)
- Board review
- Dermatopathology slide review and lectures
Grand Rounds occurs 2–3 times per month at UC San Diego and 2 times per month at the Naval Medical Center San Diego.
Residents have the opportunity to learn from guest lecturers at the San Diego Dermatological Society meetings held 4–5 times per year, the UC San Diego Stoughton Lecture, and the UC San Diego Research Day.
Residents are involved in hosting and presenting cases at the San Diego Dermatological Society meetings at UC San Diego and Rady Children's Hospital. In addition, they have the opportunity to present and learn from the research of colleagues at UC San Diego at the annual Research Day.
Residents participate in quality improvement projects and biannual Morbidity and Mortality conferences.
